This is probably overkill on instructions, but there are PC people out there who may try to help out the (much more) rare critical Mac issue. Hopefully I diagnosed a bad hard drive correctly (I'll provide my method) and I hope this helps someone out there.

You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
